Dziki played another very demanding match. Our team faced Trefl Sopot on Saturday afternoon in the Centennial Hall in Sopot. The fourth pre-season friendly brought Dziki a breakthrough in the form of their first victory. "Wataha" defeated the current winners of the Polish Cup 80-74.
The Wild Boars entered the game strongly, winning the first quarter 22-19. Good defense and effectiveness under the basket allowed them to build a small advantage. Trefl responded quickly, because in the second quarter they were leading by eight points at one point. Then the Wild Boars' biggest series in Saturday's game took place. "Wataha" took advantage of Sopot's mistakes and thanks to a 7-0 series, they went into the break with only a one-point deficit and a score of 39-40.
The second half was a blow-for-blow duel. Neither team was able to gain a larger point advantage. Until. At the end of the fourth quarter, there was a breakthrough. Michał Aleksandrowicz made two interceptions, and Mateusz Szlachetka won several free throws in a row, which he used. The Dziki's advantage was 9 points a dozen or so seconds before the end of the match, but the hosts made a successful three-point shot. The match ended with a score of 80-74.
In the match against Trefl, our team had 15 interceptions. One of the factors that decided the victory was accurate throws for 2 points. The Wilds achieved 71 percent effectiveness in this element.
